Preparing for The Next Academic Year

Axia has been working closely with all four of the universities that use MyCad to gear up for the next academic year. A revised list of placements has been quickly and easily uploaded onto the MyCad website and further changes have been made based on feedback.

 

Pins for Preceptors

The new ‘pin’ functionality allows Students and Preceptors to use MyCad on the same device. This feature was originally developed for Universities in the UK who use our systems to assess nursing students. It enables the student to add their information (for example, an attendance record), then give the device to a Preceptor who can enter their ‘pin’, giving them the permissions they need to ‘sign-off’ what has been entered by the student. This improves the usability of the site whilst preserving the authenticity of the decision making process.

 

Improvements to Plans and Further Customisation

MyCad’s Action and Personal Development Plans now allow Preceptors to select which competencies a student should focus on when creating a Plan.

In addition to this, we’ve made tweaks to better reflect the assessment practices of each institution that uses MyCad. One way we’ve achieved this is by adding customised guidance to reflect the different approaches used by each institution. This once again demonstrates the flexibility of MyCad.

 

Success and Plans for The Future

For the first time, nurses attending postgraduate courses in Emergency Nursing have been able to use a digital portfolio to record their professional practice.

In 2025 we hope to persuade even more Universities to use MyCad. Additionally, there are plans to develop a digital version of the National Assessment document for Midwifery.
